Dylan & Son Sartorial / objects,space

UPSTAIRS_ collaborated with a dear old friend – Dylan the Sartorialist – on his flagship space at one of Singapore’s Heritage Districts, Telok Ayer.

An former 1970s office space situated within a conservation shophouse unit, we first ripped away the banal ceiling boards and partitions, revealing the aged woodwork floor, plaster cornices, and timber roof beams in their original worn-out charm.

These artifacts are then further conserved and exaggerated, lending a soul and character to the layered bare space.

The new intervention is in the form of a contemporary, sculptural, undulating elongated Tailor’s Bar, where elements of the tailor’s rituals are plugged in at delegated spaces along the work counter.

And of course, our most favorite ritual of them all was the Whiskey Bar.
